Trappola di Venere
is a new women’s luxury label started by the Italian designer Sara Romoli. The current centerpieces of the collection are one-of-a-kind fashion corsets but the essence of the line is Italian made garments of the highest quality and materials designed to enhance and celebrate femininity in each phase of a woman’s life.
Historians believe that the scene depicted in Botticelli’s Birth of Venus was inspired by the text in an Homeric hymn published in Florence in 1488 by the Greek refugee Demetrios Chalcondyles:
Of august gold-wreathed and beautiful Aphrodite I shall sing to whose domain belong the battlements of all sea-loved Cyprus
where, blown by the moist breathof Zephyros,
she was carried over the waves of the resounding sea on soft foam.
The gold-filleted Horae happily welcomed her
and clothed her with heavenly raiment.
This is the concept behind the new line of Trappola di Venere by Sara Romoli. Like the heavenly raiment that covered Venus and Boticelli’s vision of a beautiful and alluring woman brought to life in the modern day, our collection embraces each woman’s body in European style and sophistication.
Old world Italian craftsmanship and attention to detail ensure that each piece is of the highest quality. We have selected the finest, luxurious materials and Italian fabrics in each style to maintain the spirit and romance of a bygone era. Our goal is to bring out the natural beauty, femininity and inner glamour of every woman.
The Concept Behind Trappola di Venere
“A Symbol of Powerful Female Expression”
The corset is a particularly interesting garment, as it has symbolism and power over and above the merely utilitarian aspect of modifying the bodies contour. Its wearers continue a powerful history of female expression that spans centuries.
Corsets have existed for centuries and can be traced back to Greek and Minoan times. A traditional corset is a close-fitting piece of clothing that has been stiffened by various means in order to shape a woman’s torso to conform to the fashionable silhouette of the time.
• Our corsets are a new modern version of the traditional corsets and we take care in all details to maintain the
spirit of the last century’s corsetry.
• Our style is sophisticated with a retro touch and romantic passion.
• Our goal is to bring out the femininity and inner glamour of every woman.
This wonderful bracelet “Venere” is handmade in Italy to offer our customers extremely high quality objects that maintain their value over time. The bracelet’s unique and extraordinary design blends elegance and craftsmanship.
Inspired by the technique of the Italian goldsmith masters, each detail of the bracelet is meant to enhance the beauty of this timeless piece.
After first drawing the design by hand on a brass plate, our Italian craftsmen then carefully chisel the embossed and engraved design into the metal. The metal is then cleaned and retouched again by chisel if necessary.
The brass plates are then cut and shaped into the form of the bracelet. The final processing is then applied to the plate and secured with rivets. The ends are folded to shape the cuff and the plate is galvanized to give it an old-world European finish.
Our jewelry products are forged from the same processing methods used by the master craftsmen from centuries past and our team is committed to reproducing the same high quality in our pieces as items found in the world’s most renowned museums such as the Louvre (Paris), the Hermitage (St. Petersburg) and the Uffizi Gallery (Florence).
